I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
He is the Rock, his works are perfect,
and all his ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is he.
Deuteronomy 32:3-4 (NIV)
These verses are very clear about the nature and character of God. Our God truly is an awesome God. We know that His Creation and His ways are perfect. We are not worthy of this because of our sinful natures, but He loves us still and forgives our sins. This is something we need to share with others: there is a God we can lean on, who is fair and just.
Why do we need to share this? The enemy is at work through false teachers. There are those in our society today who question God’s nature and try to twist His words. They take a verse or two out of context and make it say what they want. They have removed the justice from God and are trying to make people feel good about their sins and that God is accepting of them. This is not true, and we need to be aware of it. They want to change the character of God. We must guard our hearts with Scripture and prayer.
We also need to be prepared to speak the truth in love to people, helping them understand the love of God. He does love us and does judge us, but it is a fair and just judgment that we can trust in and rely on. God is the same then, now and in the future. He is truly a rock for us to lean on.
APPLICATION: Pray and ask God who you can speak into this week in a loving way. Spend time listening to Him and praying about how you can speak to that person. Have lunch or coffee with that person and share the love of God with them.
PRAYER: Dear God, Your justice is mighty and fair, and I’m grateful for You loving me throughout my life. Give me the strength to face struggles, knowing that You are with me at every step. Thank You for being my rock. Amen.
