WORSHIP UNINTERRUPTED
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)
We’ve all been blessed with the gift of music, whether we make it or receive it. Music moves us emotionally and physically. It’s a gateway to memories. It connects us to each other. And it draws us closer to God, especially when we worship Him through song.
Music is the love language between me and God. I often immerse myself in it during times of affliction. As a believer, I favor songs that are God-glorifying and lead me to worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24). I lean into songs that remind me of God’s faithfulness, sustaining me through hardship. Songs arising from suffering resonate with me most because they point to His saving grace and remind me of the joy I have in Him. On occasion, I may simply listen, for sometimes the pain is too much to utter a sound. The love of God, which I feel through every note and word, brings peace, hope, comfort, and strength. Worship music prepares both my heart and mind to meet God and all His goodness. God’s mighty power, through the Holy Spirit, takes hold of me from the inside and produces the desire to honor and adore Him.
We were made with a purpose–to worship God and Him alone. He’s the only one who is worthy and deserves it all. Rest in the assurance that one day pain and suffering will be no longer. We will bow down with all believers who have gone before us and give glory, honor and thanks to our maker for all eternity (Revelation 7:11). Not only will we be singing praises to the creator of all things, but He will joyously sing over us in return. When we worship Him, we’re grounding ourselves in the unshakeable character of God. Worship is a day and night mindset and posture of the heart towards Him, no matter the circumstances (Acts 16:25).
APPLICATION: Allow God's gift of song to bring you into His presence and to sustain you through trials and tribulations. Ask God to cultivate in you a genuine attitude of worship.
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the blessing of music that points to You and Your majesty. Create in me an uninhibited spirit of unending heartfelt worship for You and You alone. Amen.
