As we partner with families, we’ve established milestones to recognize spiritually significant moments in children and student's lives. We want to help parents focus on the relationship with Christ, not merely the event of dedication or baptism. The following are spiritual milestones that Brookwood recommends our families experience as they lead their children to a life of faith.

Words Kids Need to Hear
Words children hear from adults impact their self-image and influence their relationships with people and with God. This class educates, equips, and motivates parents to frequently and creatively choose words that build up kids' hearts. By using seven statements that are simple to share, parents can have a profoundly positive impact on their children. This is a two-week class. Parent/Child Dedication
We are excited about the opportunity to partner with you and your family through Parent / Child Dedication. Getting Real With Your Kids About God
This class is designed to help parents understand how to lay a foundation for guiding children to become devoted followers of Christ. It is also for parents of children interested in baptism.  The class helps prepare parents to discuss salvation and baptism with their children. For more information, contact BrookwoodKiDs, 864.688.8239.

Baptism
Basic Beliefs of Baptism

  • To follow the examples set by Christ
The Baptism and Temptation of Jesus. One day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized him in the Jordan River. - Mark 1:9 (NLT)
  • Christ commands it
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. - Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT)
  • Illustrates Jesus' burial and resurrection
Always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. - Colossians 1:12 (NLT)
  • Demonstrates I am a believer
One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him, "Don't be afraid! Speak out! Don't be silent." - Acts 18:9 (NLT)
  • It's a symbol. Baptism is like a wedding ring. It is the outward symbol of the commitment you make in your heart.

Baptism Does Not

  • Make you a Christian, it is a symbol that you are a Christian
  • Save you
  • Wash away your sins

If you have questions about baptism, contact BrookwoodKiDs@brookwoodchurch.org or at 864.688.8239.
