On Sundays the Special Friends Ministry offers church services for people with special needs. Dedicated volunteers provide personalized attention and care to our Sunday friends. If you're thinking about joining us, please complete a Special Friends Intake Form and contact our Special Friends Ministry by email or by calling 864.688.8231. We look forward to meeting you.
Sign language interpretation is available at the 11 am service.
When you arrive please feel free to park in the Special Friends designated parking spaces which are located by the playground and big blue ramp into the building. The Academy signs in the parking lot will direct you to this designated area. After you park, walk up the blue ramp and we’re located inside on the right in Pod D. Ministry volunteers will be available to welcome and care for your child demonstrating patience, maturity and dedication as they share the love of Jesus through their words and actions. Special Friends offers a large group room (we call it a Pod) for worship, music and movies as well as six classrooms which include a therapy swing, a quiet room and a sensory room.
Parents/Caregivers may be interested in the Parents and Caregivers of Special Needs Small Group which meets on Thursday evenings from 6:30–8 pm at Brookwood. Special Friends Childcare is available on Thursday evenings from 6–8:30 pm . Special Friends Respites are offered throughout the year, and our Special Friends are encouraged to participate in Adventure Week each summer. Brookwood also hosts a Night to Shine prom sponsored by the Tim Tebow foundation in February.
Brookwood is fortunate to partner with the Tim Tebow Foundation to provide a prom night experience centered on God's love for people with special needs, ages 14 and older.
