Grandparents Raising Grandchildren [show]
GRANDS Standing on Faith is a support group that provides encouragement, support, and informational resources to grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. In 2012, according to the Current Population Survey for the US Census, about 4.2 million households contained grandparents and their grandchildren (under 18) living together. This was about 3 percent of all households and about 10 percent of all children. These families have unique needs and issues that are not always addressed by traditional family support groups.

GRANDS meets each month starting at 4 pm with food and fellowship in the Main Café. Everyone brings a dish to share, (drinks are provided). Following the meal at 5 pm children go to childcare, and adults assemble in Pod I for an educational workshop and time of sharing. Topics are presented by our pastoral staff, human service agency representatives, and professionals from within the community each month.

Childcare for this group is FREE with a 48-hour advance registration for ages birth-grade 5. Register for childcare when registering each month or make childcare reservations by calling 864.688.8240. Please indicate that you are attending a GRANDS meeting.
