Support Groups

The Brookwood Support Ministry offers support groups and workshops for almost every situation—from individuals to families. These groups can provide a positive and nurturing environment for encouragement and healing, no matter the circumstances. Scroll down to view a list of what we offer, including those currently open for registration.

Areas of Support

Cancer Support Group [show]

This support group is a fellowship of survivors, care givers, family and friends who are currently experiencing or have experienced cancer of any type. Starting in February the Cancer Support Group will be participating in the six-week church-wide bible study titled “40 Days in the Word”.  During this 40 day campaign we will explore the authenticity, reliability, power, comfort, interpretation and doing of God’s Word while we learn how to study the Bible.  

  • Meets Monday from 6:30 – 8 pm in Parent Room A.
  • This group meets February 3 - March 17.
  • Cost: $10 for the workbook.

Celebrate Life: A Grief Recovery Group [show]
This eight-week grief support group allows an avenue of open sharing and support. By sharing together, we can learn from one another about how to process our own grief and help encourage those around us suffering from grief. Whether your loved one has just died, you are anticipating a death, or you have grief from the past, this group could be a good place to start the healing process.
  • Meets Thursday from 6 - 7:30 pm in Room C229.
  • This group meets February 6 - March 28.
  • Free event.

Celebrate Recovery

Christy Ruppert Delseni Autism Group

The CRD Autism Program is a group for young adults and their families which meets monthly. Parents/caregivers and their young adults meet simultaneously, in separate rooms. Each group provides much needed social interaction, as well as a place to discuss pertinent information and concerns. Regular social outings are planned so the young adults, together with their parents, are able to enjoy leisure activities in the community.
  • Meets on the second Monday of each month.
  • 6:30 – 8:30 pm in Room C221.
  • Free event.

Divorce Care for Men and Women [show]
DivorceCare is a 13-week class for men and women who are legally divorced. It offers a healthy recovery process within a safe and secure environment. DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. These groups are led by people who understand what you’re going through and want to help. Through these classes, you’ll gain access to valuable DivorceCare resources to help you deal with the pain of the past, and look forward to rebuilding your life.

  • Meets Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8 pm in Room E284.
  • This group meets January 16 - April 10.
  • Cost: $10 for the workbook.

Grands Standing on Faith [show]
According to a 2005 survey by the U.S. Census Bureau the number of grandparents raising their grandchildren has risen to nearly six million kids. That’s approximately eight percent of kids in the U.S.

Grands Standing on Faith is a group that provides encouragement, support and informational resources to grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. At this monthly meeting, this group enjoys a meal together and has guest speakers who address related issues.
  • Grands meet the third Sunday of each month, 4 – 6:30 pm in Pod D.
  • Free event.

National Alliance on Mental Illness - Family-to-Family Support Group [show]
NAMI’s Family-to-Family is a 12-week course designed to help families and caregivers of people with mental illness through education, support and advocacy.

The goal of the support group meetings is to help the caregiver have a safe place to share their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental atmosphere. Here, with others in similar circumstances, they can find encouragement and hope in managing their lives
