Sign Language Interpreting is Moving
Sunday morning interpreting for the deaf and hard of hearing is moving from the 10:30 am service to the 9 am service, beginning March 14.
The Deaf Ministry provides interpreting every Sunday as well as for other requested church events. Sermon scripts are also provided, and FM systems are available. Sign language classes are offered for all skill levels. Every three months we rotate between a ministry meeting, silent lunch and social event. The silent lunches are a great opportunity for sign language students to interact with deaf members and practice their signing skills. The time and place varies, but will be announced on this webpage.
In addition to interpreting songs or sermon during 10:30 am worship service, volunteers are needed to make copies of and hand out scripts and set up chair for the interpreter.
Interpreters do not need to be certified, but should be fairly fluent in sign language already. Minimal training is needed for the other jobs.
If you are interested in volunteering with the Deaf Ministry, please contact Dawne Bendig, 979.4555 (cell/text). You may also contact Tina Piper(Staff Director), 688.8396.

Signing Worship Team
The Signing Worship Team meets weekly to translate songs into American Sign Language and to practice signing them. We join the Sunday morning worship team on stage 3 times each year to sign songs for the services. We also participate in the children's ministry and have plans to reach out to the community as well. All are welcome to join our team! You just have to have a basic knowledge of sign language or a willingness to learn! For more information contact Terri Gross.
Procedure for Requesting an Interpreter
If you would like to have an interpreter at a special event or class, you will need to contact Dawne Bendig to request an interpreter. All requests must be received at least two weeks prior to the requested date.
